Theology of a Modern Heretic

An ordinary man's unconventional belief about God and his existence.

Is there such thing as a perfect world?

The world that we are living now is a perfect world.

For most people, our concept of a perfect world is a place where eternal happiness exists. Where there is no war, and there is absence of pain and suffering; where everybody lives in abundance and harmony. However, what you see today is the complete opposite; thus, you will think immediately that our world is not a perfect world. But I tell you right now that our world, no matter how “chaotic” you might think it is, it is perfect. To illustrate why it is so, here is a story.

In a far away planet, which they call heaven, there live winged beings. Angels as they call themselves. Everybody wears the same clothes, exactly has the same size and span of wings. Even their faces and their bone structure are exactly the same. Everybody is completely identical. And everything as well since they live in exactly the type of houses, sleep on exactly the same type of bed, eat the same food. Definitely no variety, no uniqueness, no individuality. They have talents. Everybody can dance gracefully, can sing magnificently. And if there is a competition, everybody wins.

And then there was one angel who notices that everything is exactly the same. No variety. And he thought to himself, what if there is a ‘perfect world’, where one can exceed, where one can be distinguished from the other. A place where he would realize who he is, an angel. For he would only know that he is an angel if he talks a non-winged being. A world, wherein choice exists between eating apples rather than grapes. A world where he might stand in awe and amazement while he looks up to others. As he continues to entertain the thought, dark clouds began to cover the sky. There was thunder and lighting. Then a voice spoke,

“My angel, for all I want is for you to be blissful and to realize who you are. And if living in that world you are thinking right now, would help you achieve it, then I shall grant you your wish. Go forth, spread your wings and fly to the new world that I will be creating for you. Tomorrow after you sleep, this world will be renewed. A world that you have been longing for. A perfect world which we shall call Earth.”

And for hundreds of years, they have been living on Earth happily. However, as the generation grows, the history about why Earth was created became a legend, then a myth, then it became just a figment of the imagination. The new angels already forgot the purpose why they were living on Earth. They dwell into the thought that being different causes jealousy. They think that the world they are living is full of emotions, which cause rage, anger, and war. Their greed has caused famine and poverty. Nevertheless, there are other angels who dwell in the thought of love which is the source of all. Love pours out compassion, kindness, and joy. There are some who are still able to remember their purpose, and a few who have realized their full potential but most of the angels thinks and prays for another world. A place where there is no suffering. A world where everybody will have all that they want including a place to live and talents to show. A world where everybody wins.

Now, I ask you this, which place do you think is the perfect world?
